This is Principal McGeachy with updates for the week of March 10 - 14th:
Our Juniors will take their ACT test on Tuesday, March 11th. All Juniors have been sent an email informing them of their testing locations.
Also, on Tuesday, March 11th, we will hold our Soaring Through the Center and National Honor Society Induction Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium. Invitations for selected scholars have been sent out.
On Thursday, our Junior scholars will visit the campus of Campbell University to learn about the academic opportunities provided by the university.
On Friday, scholars in the graduating Class of 2025 will take their cap and gown photographs.
As of this recording, all buses are scheduled to run their routes in the morning. If there are any changes to this status, the district’s transportation office will send a notification.

For a dollar, you can vote to have your choice of 1 of the 9 teacher and staff volunteers, to wear a leprechaun costume for a full day on March 14th. This fundraiser will end on March 12th. You can place & purchase your vote for $1 during your AVID class. We can't wait to see who will become a leprechaun!

The ACT WorkKeys assessment will take place this Friday, March 7th, and on March 11th, our Junior scholars will take the ACT.
Southern Nash High School will host a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Night on March 5th from 5-7:00 p.m. in their media center for those families who would like to attend.
Also, March 7th will mark the end of the Term 3 grading period. Report Cards will be available in Infinite Campus on March 17th.
On March 11th, we will have our National Honor Society and Soaring Through the Center ceremony. Additional details can be found on our school website.

The Global Fair will take place February 25th from 10:00-3:30. If you would like to participate in the Cultural Fashion Show you will need to complete the Google Form sent out by Mrs. Abeja. Emails from participants will not be accepted! Please make sure to bring cash for vendors and food trucks!

On Tuesday, February 25th, we will host an AVID Family Night from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. This is a floating event for all grade levels and is an opportunity to meet with teachers and learn helpful ways to support your scholar. Also, the School Counselor and College Success Coach will be available to answer any questions. We hope to see you there!

This week is National Random Act of Kindness Week, a time to spread positivity and show kindness to others. Remember, no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

This is Principal McGeachy, and I’d like to share some additional information regarding the recently announced Remote Learning Days that will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 19th, and Thursday, February 20th for ECHS. On both days, scholars will attend class virtually in accordance with their normal daily schedule. For each of their high school classes, teachers will provide live links via Canvas to facilitate 45 minutes of instruction for that particular class. Attendance is based on being present during the live links and/or submitting requested work. As shared by NCPS, if a scholar cannot complete tasks due to a lack of technology, power, or other challenge, the teacher will provide an alternative method for completing the work.
Scholars enrolled in Nash Community College classes should communicate directly with their professors to complete required assignments. Please do not hesitate to contact your scholar’s teacher or me if you have questions. Stay safe!

Synchronous: Grade 3 - Grade 13 - Live instruction via Google Meet.
For all students, remote learning assignments may be accessed through: Canvas, Google Classroom, or other communication from your child’s teachers or principal.
Student attendance is required; however, NCPS has procedures in place to ensure students are not negatively affected if they are unable to complete tasks due to a lack of technology, power, or other challenges.
