FAFSA Event
Parents please remind your 11th grade students that if they did not complete the training that was conducted yesterday 2/20/2024 they must complete the training. I will be trying to contact them during the school day, however some are on and off campus. A reminder from Mom/Dad always helps complete the process. They must complete the training or they will not get a login for the ACT Test that will be taken on Tuesday, February 27th. We are just five days away from the test. Thank you for all you do supporting your student and Northern Nash.

2/19/2024 Dear Parent or Guardian: The State Board of Education is required by General Statute §115C-174.11 (c)(4), to plan for and require the administration of the ACT test to all public-school students who are enrolled in the eleventh grade. Your student will take the statewide ACT test, free of charge, on February 27, 2024. Colleges may use ACT scores for admissions decisions, course placement, academic advising, and loans and scholarships. Students participating in the statewide ACT administration can select for free up to four colleges (or other reporting agencies) to receive their ACT scores. The ACT is also used as part of North Carolina’s school accountability program. Students who have taken either the SAT or the ACT before February 2, 2024, and have scores that meet the college readiness benchmark standards, do not have to participate in the statewide ACT administration. However, it is the students’ responsibility to notify the school that they do not wish to participate in the ACT. Before submitting a request for exemption, students must have either SAT or ACT test scores that meet or exceed the following college readiness benchmarks: SAT college readiness benchmark scores include the following subtests: Test SAT Score Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 530 Mathematics 540 ACT college readiness benchmark scores include all of the following subtests: Test ACT Score English 18 Mathematics 22 Reading 22 Science 23 Students may not combine test scores from prior, separate administrations to meet college readiness benchmark scores. All college readiness benchmark scores must be attained during the same test administration. For consideration of an ACT testing exception, students must complete a copy of the ACT Testing Exception Request Form (available at the school or on the school website) and submit the request to the principal or the principal’s designee no later than February 2, 2024. If you have questions or concerns about the upcoming ACT administration at Northern Nash High School, Please contact Timothy Messer, at the following; tmmesser@ncpschools.net (252) 937-9040 Sincerely, Assistant Principal Timothy Messer Northern Nash High School 4230 Green Hills Rd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804

Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians: Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) will conduct an important Mass Communication Test on Friday, February 9, 2024. This test aims to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our communication systems, ensuring that we can reach all members of our school community promptly in critical situations. This test will involve each school in our district. For parents and guardians with contact information linked to their child's school records, please anticipate receiving notifications via text messages, voice calls, and emails. This initiative is crucial for confirming that our lines of communication are fully operational and that you are kept informed about your child's safety and school events. If your email or phone number fails during our test, please be advised that your child's school will attempt to contact you through alternative means. This may include sending a letter home with your child or employing another communication method over the following four weeks. We also want to remind you of the importance of keeping your contact information current in our system. You can review and update your child's details anytime through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, or contact your child's school. It is not uncommon for contact information to be incorrect by just a single digit, yet accurate details are crucial for ensuring that we can reach all parents and guardians effectively. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the well-being of our students and the broader school community. Thank you, Nash County Public Schools Click the following link for more info. https://nashdistrictupdates.edurooms.com/engage/ncps-communication-planning-engagement-department/newsletters/ncps-mass-communication-test-advisory
